about us

The duro's are comprised of fast recreational bicyclists whose primary activity is the Sunday ride out of Walnut Creek, California.  Additional activities include a Wednesday ride, occasional organized out-of-town rides, annual picnic, and a holiday party.

A key feature of the club is its social aspect and the camaraderie of riding with others of similar passion, skill, and sense of adventure.  We support racers and century riders through a points program where members receive money based on the number of points accumulated at designated events throughout the year.

Since the club's founding in 1989, the Sunday ride has followed a "decide and ride" approach with one or two self-appointed ride leaders who suggest a route and guide the group.  Recently, however, the club board initiated a pre-planned ride schedule which is published in our newsletter and can be found at the "rides" link on this site.

The rides usually regroup at the tops of significant hills, major intersections, or at traditional stops.  The routes are selected to provide variety, challenge, and adventure with several "bail out" options available.

Participants should have drafting and pace line experience and the ability to ride smoothly in a group at speed.
